Protection from riots and looting

In response to the dangerous rioting and looting events that have recently transpired in the Minneapolis area, we're reaching out to make sure you and your business stay safe should a situation like this arise.

The current riots and looting are specific to the Minneapolis metro area. However, for your safety, the highest level of precaution should be taken regardless of criminal history in your location.

What should you do if a situation like this arises in your area?

  1. Act calmly but in a timely manner as these events can arise quickly.
  2. Lock your doors and move as much of your inventory as possible into a locked safe or vault.
  3. If it's safe to do so, arrange for Malca-Amit to transport your inventory to a safe storage location or transport your stock to your nearest bank safe. (Contact Malca-Amit via email at and provide your company’s name, phone number, contact name, and note that you are insured with Jewelers Mutual).
  4. Optimize your electronic security by making sure surveillance cameras and security systems inside and outside your store are in working order. You can also order jewelry store security materials to let criminals know you have this equipment in place.
In addition, in an extreme situation we'll reach out to our surveillance partners to secure additional surveillance in hot spots as intel becomes available. If you have additional safety or security questions, please email me at
